I have a few problems.
But beyond that unfortunate fact, I am also having a few technical problems with my 2-year-old. That is, my laptop. Because it doesn't perform as well as it once did. It's a tiny thing, very portable... not upgradeable in the slightest. 512 Mb of RAM is a nasty limit if one wants to load up their computer with photo software and such. Adobe's Lightroom product, now that it's out of beta, requires 768. Which makes me sad.
So I'm shopping for a new laptop. One with 2 Gb of RAM, a nice screen, etc. I have only a few weeks before Lightroom will be $300 rather than $200, so there's some pressure. Can't buy a Vista computer because Lightroom 1.0 doesn't work with Vista yet from what I've seen. (Edit - It does work but a few features are sketchy.) So, it's either an older PC, or a Mac, if I want to jump into Lightroom. Which isn't fair. Macs are neat but so expensive! I'd lose the $100 discount almost immediately. Not to mention all the cracked software I'd have to suddenly pay for.
I just want a laptop that satisfies my artistic needs. And surfing needs. I like Opera, but it just isn't working as a browser at the moment. Going to have to abandon it in favor of Firefox, which I'm using now. Opera wouldn't let me blog.
Soon the weather will be better and I'll have more ability to do photoshoots. And bike. And look for real estate. And I want a nice-ass laptop to keep it real, to match the quality of the other equipment I have.
In point of fact, I do want people to look at my toys and say, "Nice ass."
A former model of mine just popped through the Meadowlark. I flagged her down to say hello. She looks *exactly* the same as 2 years ago when we shot. It was uncanny. And still very nice. I'd like to be able to offer a new photoshoot when that happens. And show off new toys.
I'm such a photo nerd.
